We are bicyclists with a passion for touring and understand what bicycle tourists need and want.  Our goal is to add value to your bicycle tour giving you the best bike touring experience that is possible. We don't simply provide basic services to the bicycle tourist ... we provide superior comfort services to bicycle riders with discriminating tastes!

We take our jobs very seriously and are proud of our hard-working team. To find out who we are, we would like to introduce ourselves:

RAGBRAI 2006

Tym Allison, Founder

Tym's interest in bicycles started in the 1970's when he noticed his brothers' banana seat bicycles. His first tour was in grade school with his family and he rode his single speed 20 inch bike 30 miles to the family camper. He took his first tent camping tour with friends in high school and his first self-contained tour during college when he travelled with his roommate across Wisconsin. In the summer of 1995, he biked from Washington to Maine covering 4150 miles and in 2005 he completed RAGBRAI.

Dave Clabby, RAGBRAI Charter Manager

Dave will serve as lead driver for Overland Touring Company's 2008 RAGBRAI charter. Dave's RAGBRAI experience covers many years and numerous titles. It started in 1990 with the Rainbow Cyclists bike club in Waterloo, IA. He pedaled RAGBRAI between 1990 and 1997. During 2 of those years, he served as  Rainbow's RAGBRAI Director. During that tenure, the Rainbow Cyclists RAGBRAI charter included over 230 riders.

In 1998, Cedar Falls, Iowa was tabbed as a RAGBRAI overnight stop and Dave served as co-chairman of the Cedar Falls  committee. Between 1999 and 2001, he worked on the RAGBRAI staff, marking the bike and vehicle routes with arrows and safety signs. He joined the OTC charter in 2002 as a cyclist for a few days. In 2003, he joined Dave Harrenstein as the second driver on the OTC charter. 2008 will be his sixth year as a driver for OTC and his first as the lead driver.

In addition to his time serving on the RAGBRAI staff, Dave also served as SAG driver for the GRABAAWR and SAGBRAW rides in Wisconsin, volunteer director for the Minneapolis Bicycle and Fitness Expo and is currently the ride director for the Midwest Scenic Tri-State bike ride in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.  If you want a great training ride for RAGBRAI, check out the MWS website.

When Dave is not coordinating bike rides, he is working for Hy-Vee Food Stores. (32 yrs) He is married to Lori, who also works for Hy-Vee (35 yrs) and has 2 sons, Kyle and Reed.

“My goal is to maintain and improve the Overland Touring Charter that Dave Harrenstein created and has improved since 1997.” I welcome your suggestions and comments concerning the 2008 RAGBRAI charter. I can be reached at 608-341-8854 or by using the contact form on the Contact Us page.

Bill Peters, RAGBRAI Charter Assistant Manager

Bill Peters will be your second driver on the Overland Touring Company charter this year. This will be Bill's first year of RAGBRAI experience. Bill lives in Grundy Center, Iowa, which is about 45 minutes southwest of Waterloo.  Some of you may have ridden through Grundy Center in 1983 when RAGBRAI rolled through town. Bill served in the military for a total of 9 ½ years and now he is a weldor/fabricator by trade in Shell Rock, Iowa. Shell Rock is five miles west of Waverly on Highway 3. Some of you might remember Waverly from the 1999 RAGBRAI. When Bill's not welding, he enjoys two wheel travel on 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 motorcycle. Bill has been married to his wife Sabine for 14 years.  Together they are very involved with the Waterloo Black Hawks Hockey Team in the USHL. Bill is looking forward to his first RAGBRAI experience and hopes he can make your experience a pleasant one as well.
